TOEIC Listening and Reading scores are mainly used in the workplace, not for academic admissions. Companies and government agencies use them to make hiring and promotion decisions and to confirm staff can communicate in English on the job; universities use them to certify that graduating students meet a minimum English standard before entering the workforce; and English-language training programs use them to place incoming students and track progress.

Each section (Listening, Reading) is scored from the number of correct answers out of 100 and converted to a scaled score of 5–495. The total score is Listening + Reading (max 990). The table below is a commonly published approximate conversion; the exact scale varies slightly between test forms.

The table uses CEFR as the common reference point, showing the minimum score ETS maps to each level. It is not a direct TOEIC ↔ TOEFL ITP conversion formula.
